Taylor Fry

Andrew is an experienced actuary, leading the day-to-day operations of several Appointed Actuary engagements.

His expertise is in valuing general insurance liabilities for APRA-authorised (re)insurers and self-insurers, and providing analytics-driven insights for government. He offers strategic advice to private and public entities, regularly distilling key takeaways of technical work to boards and senior management.

In addition to reserving, financial projections, reinsurance and capital modelling, Andrew also advises several general insurers on their IFRS17 implementation. He says:

“A good actuary might have their finger in many pies — economic theory, law, statistics, to name a few. This brings deeper understanding and greater perspective to a solutions-focused approach.”

In projects for government agencies and ASX200 companies, Andrew has used his strong skillset in advanced analytics, handling linked datasets, and evaluating impacts of new policies and initiatives.

Beyond client work, Andrew served on two working groups for the Actuaries Institute during COVID-19 – Travel Insurance and Business Interruption – to assist the profession with guidelines and thought leadership on best practice.

Andrew’s Qualifications
  • Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia
  • Chartered Enterprise Risk Actuary
  • Bachelor of Commerce (University Medal, Actuarial Studies), Bachelor of Science (Statistics)
