Callum specialises in applying data science to help shape effective public policy, particularly in the social sector.

He has led complex research, modelling and analysis projects for government across justice, education, health, welfare, child protection, income and housing, shedding light on people’s behaviour and bringing long-term insight to numerous initiatives. Callum says:

“Quantitative insights can be incredibly powerful tools to inform policy – especially when combined with qualitative, real-world experience. Harnessing this combination is key to making a positive difference to people’s lives.”

Drawing on his extensive experience of the Stats NZ Integrated Data Infrastructure (IDI) – a large database of de-identified data on people and households – Callum helps clients understand complex social phenomena and inform answers to some of the most challenging questions on society and the economy.

Callum consults and conducts interviews with a range of people across government agencies, non-technical stakeholders and subject matter professionals. He also regularly presents on his specialist topics to government, academia and industry.

Callum’s Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science Honours (Mathematics), University of Auckland
  • PhD (Mathematics), University of Melbourne
